A lot of people deal with it now by either ordering several copies at once online and returning the least perfect copy (like if you have extra cash and buy on Amazon, which has free returns), or buy a copy online and exchange it in-store with a better copy (like at Barnes & Noble). One of the main complaints with publishers like Kodansha Comics and Viz is that their spines are often misaligned and sent out as sales copies.

In order for manga publishers to have substantial evidence of an issue, the best way is to give them feedback about it through their email or contact forms. It lets them know that their current printer is sending out misprint copies to stores and if they get enough feedback through email documentation, they might eventually switch printers if this keeps happening. Give official feedback through Publishers contact forms will at least show that these kinds of things are happening. Sharing the info publicly on Twitter, Facebook group, Reddit, etc. Most publishers do not have an active social media / marketing person besides Seven Seas and Viz, so they will most likely not respond.
